Mrs. Danielle (Dani) Cavalari started working at Villa di Maria last school year in our late stay program and was beloved by all! She will thankfully be continuing on this coming school year as our Late Stay Lead as well as our afternoon floater. A big ol' YAHOO to that, Villa di Maria!
Mr. Justin Shepard joins the Villa di Maria staff as our new Upper Elementary Assistant as our previous UE Assistant, Mrs. Melissa Anderson, is transitioning to the Montessori Adolescent Program this fall! Justin and UE Directress, Mrs. Rebecca Callander, will team up with our crew of 9-to-12-year-olds for what will surely be one stellar school year! CHEERS TO THAT!
One last enthralling, educational adventure for the summer! What do you say? Are you up for it? Give your children a chance to imagine what it would have been like to live here a thousand years ago!
A Cahokia Mounds share from LE Directress, Mrs. Anna Schwind
Introducing. Our new Primary Directress. Who will be leading the charges in the Primary 2 Children's House, With much enthusiasm and many smiles. The one. The only. Msssssss. Jessssiiiiieeeee Brauuuuuuuddd! (And, yes. Please picture this announcement made with megaphone in hand and a cheering VdM crowd in the midst.)
With two fantastically full Lower Elementary classrooms for the 2016-2017 school year, Mrs. Anna Schwind and Mrs. Melinda Smith will lead one classroom while Mrs. Megan Eilers and Mrs. Sophie Andre will lead the other.
As our community is well aware, Mrs. Smith is not new to Villa di Maria- her two sons attend VdM, and she also co-chaired our Parent Organization last year. She IS, however, new to the position of Assistant and most certainly deserves a formal introduction. Enjoy!
The Montessori students begin working their "bi-s and tri-s" in the Children's House and continue into the Upper Elementary. Yet another example of the genius of Maria Montessori!
“My overarching research focuses on how learning and interacting with the world with our hands has a really significant effect on our cognition,” Dr. James said, “on how writing by hand changes brain function and can change brain development.”
As you've transitioned into your summer schedules, summer camps, summer vacations, summer reading, summer swimming, summer sleeping and summer FUN, WE MISS YOU! IMMENSELY!
