Madame Sophie

Marguerite, a VdM Lower Elementary third year student, deserves every ounce of credit for this blog post!  She (pictured above, holding the dry erase board) enthusiastically suggested highlighting the French lessons taught by our Lower Elementary Assistant, Mrs. Sophie Andre.  Bonne idee!  Bien sur!First, Marguerite's interview:Second, a description of the Mrs. Sophie's French lessons written by Marguerite:To join in a French lesson, sometimes Mrs. Schwind rings the bell, and there becomes a big line. Sometimes Mrs. Sophie goes around and asks people to join the French lesson. So far, we've had lessons on colors, farm animals, wild animals, months, numbers, greetings and days of the week. Some lessons that are coming are family members and the culture in France (like food, places and where people live).  And more numbers. When Mrs. Sophie teaches the lesson, we learn it and then turn around if she calls on you.  Let's say she called on Elise.  So, Elise turns around and says the months if that is what Mrs. Sophie is teaching.  So Elise says, "Janvier, Fevrier, Mars, Avril, Mai, Juin, Juillet, Aout, Septembre, Octobre, Novembre, Decembre."  Those are the months in French that she teaches us.After Mrs. Sophie teaches the lesson with the material, we can use the material to practice with someone or by ourselves. Finally, a short sample of the beginning of a small group lesson on the naming of family members:MERCI BEAUCOUP, Mademoiselle Marguerite et Madame Sophie!
